Gene had a lifetime dream of becoming a lawyer and following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather, who was also a small-town lawyer in rural Iowa. The idea of making one of the focuses of his practice estate planning, probate, and elder law did not come to Gene until he was in law school.
While completing his law degree he had to face both nursing home abuse and other end-of-life issues relating to one of his relatives. These experiences led Gene to devote his practice to helping families with the most challenging of life’s issues.
In addition to being a common sense lawyer Gene also has an outstanding academic background. Gene earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master of Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose University, one of the Mid-West’s most prestigious liberal arts universities.
He went on to complete his Juris Doctor, with Honors, from the University of Tulsa where he served as Notes and Comments Editor for the Energy Law Journal.
Gene additionally completed an advanced Master of Laws degree, through the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, in Tax law. In this program, Gene focused on estate and gift taxation and estate planning.
Gene is a member in good standing of the Oklahoma Bar Association, Tulsa County Bar Association, and the Creek County Bar Association. He serves on the board of the Creek County Bar as secretary.
Gene also is a member of the Hudson-Hall-Wheaton chapter of American Inns of Court in Tulsa. He additionally serves on the board of directors of Sapulpa’s local food bank.
